We have sourced the finest quality silk available on the planet for our masks only 5% of all silk produced worldwide ever achieves a Grade 6A quality rating, and we have chosen the highest momme we can that does not affect the ability to breathe.

What does Grade 6A mean?

Silk quality is graded A, B, or C, with Grade A being the best. Grade A silk is the highest quality long-strand silk from cocoons that are pearly white in color. It is very pure and can be unraveled to great lengths without breaking. Silk grades are also further differentiated by number; Grade A silk comes in A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A, and 6A, with 6A being the highest and finest quality silk. For any given type of silk, Grade 6A is the finest quality available in the marketplace.

What does 22 momme mean?

Momme is a unit of measurement, much like thread count in Cotton, however in silk's case it measures the weight of the fabric as silk is so much finer then cotton the thread count gets really high really fast. That’s why momme is used instead. Momme describes the silk’s weight and density. Higher momme means there is more strands of silk per 100 yards of fabric, therefore making the product heavier. The higher the momme  the higher quality and more durable the fabric is. Momme can range anywhere from 11-momme to 25-momme. For the most part higher momme is higher quality, but 19-momme while higher than 11-momme is still considered “lower quality” while 25-Momme is much too heavy for clothes or a face mask and is usually used for decor like curtains. 22-Momme is the perfect balance of high quality weight and breath ability.

What is Mulberry Silk?

Mulberry Silk is created by silkworms fed exclusively on mulberry leaves. Mulberry Silk is the best silk you can buy for textile purposes. 100% means that the fabric only consists of Mulberry silk. This is important because some companies will blend mulberry silk with other cheaper silks to make a cheaper product. Mulberry silk is incredibly soft and durable and the only silk we use in our products.

Silk is a 100% natural, renewable material with low environmental impact compared with other fibres. The silkworms feed on mulberry leaves, which do not warrant much application of pesticides or fertilizers to grow. And silk farming requires large groves of trees adding to the greening of our planet.
